We are very excited to share the good news that our company Acuamaya S.A. www.acuamaya.com just earned the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Multi Sites Shrimp Farm Certification for our three production farms!
Additionally, the Acuamaya Processing Plant also received the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody Certification for ASC Products. The MSC Chain of Custody Standard ensures that products from MSC certified sustainable fisheries are traceable and separated from non-certified products.
Founded in 1983 in Guatemala, Acuamaya is one of the first shrimp aquaculture companies in Central America, dedicated to the production and commercialization of high quality, farm-raised shrimp.
Since its inception, the Acuamaya team has recognized the importance of pursuing sustainable aquaculture practices, with a solid commitment to the well-being of its employees, the local communities and the environment. As a result of its on-going commitment to social and environmental responsible practices along with a thorough certification process performed by Control Union of Peru, Acuamaya today becomes the first company in Guatemala to obtain the highly recognized ASC Certification.
The three production farms, Mayasal, Saquija and La Danta are all located on the Pacific Coast of Guatemala. Each farm is blessed with diverse ecosystems, volcanic soils and favorable natural conditions which along with a highly committed team of employees, allow the production of a delicious, naturally darker shrimp, characteristic of Guatemala.
